  1. He is the son of Korean immigrants.
  2. He spent his childhood years growing up in Koreatown, Los Angeles.
  3. David Choe was a teenager when he started spray-painting on the streets.
  4. He was hired by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sean Parker (who has been a longtime fan of David’s work) to paint s*xually graphic murals inside Facebook’s first office in Silicon Valley in 2005. Then, in 2007, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg hired him to paint somewhat tamer murals for their next office.
  5. For the original Facebook murals, David Choe chose to receive company stock in lieu of cash payment even though he thought that the Facebook business model was “ridiculous and pointless”. Later, on the eve of Facebook’s 2012 IPO, his shares were valued at approximately $200 million.
  6. David Choe held his first New York solo exhibit “Gardeners of Eden” in 2007.
  7. He provided vocals to the character of Rain in the 2007 independent animated film We Are the Strange.
  8. In 2008, he held his 2nd solo exhibit “Murderous Heart” in the United Kingdom.
  9. Along with Harry Kim, David Choe made an autobiographical documentary titled Dirty Hands: The Art and Crimes of David Choe in 2008.

  12. With adult film star Asa Akira, David Choe started hosting an online lifestyle and entertainment podcast called DVDASA in 2013.
  13. He commented on his DVDASA podcast in March 2014 that he had engaged in “r*pey behavior” with a masseuse. He then defended his comment by explaining that the podcast itself is essentially a work of fiction.
  14. On Aug 11, 2014, David Choe joined YouTube with his eponymous channel.
