Este Haim Facts
- Este grew up in a musical family and her father noticed her talent for playing bass guitar at a young age. To hone her skills, he bought her a second-hand fender guitar for $50.
- Este’s first ever band was Rockinhaim which was a family band formed by her parents and other siblings. Her dad played the drums while mom played the guitar and together, they mostly performed free gigs at local venues.
- Este and her sister Danielle were once a part of the pop-rock group Valli Girls. Their single Always There In You was featured on the soundtrack of the movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in 2005.
- At the age of 14, she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, due to which she always has to wear an insulin pump. Although she doesn’t drink or smoke, she has to watch her diet closely to monitor her blood sugar levels.
- While performing at the Glastonbury Festival in 2014, Este almost had a diabetic seizure as she had skipped her meal before the show. She was rushed backstage and after her sugar levels were normalized, she returned and performed the gig sitting down.
- Este got her real estate license as an 18-year-old and has kept selling real estate as her backup career plan.
- At the Brit Awards in February 2018, she came under the scanner for videobombing an ongoing interview with Cheryl Tweedy and Liam Payne. She was noticed firstly as an unidentified intoxicated woman who was mouthing the words “Call me” at the cameras. However, when her identity was established, she explained her side of the story by saying that she wasn’t drunk but ‘just living her truth’. She also left Cheryl a voicemail clearing that she didn’t have any beef with her.
- Este joined hands with actress Scarlett Johansson to form a pop group The Singles in 2015. Other band members included Holly Miranda, Julia Haltigan, and Kendra Morris. Their first single Candy was released in 2015. Soon enough, the band landed in legal trouble as another band of the same name from Los Angeles already existed since 1999. They filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Este’s newly formed band.
- In June 2018, Este’s band Haim fired their agent after they found out that they had been paid one-tenth the amount paid to a male act while performing at a music festival in Australia in 2017.
- She calls pop sensation Taylor Swift among her closest friends.
- In March 2022, HAIM released a new song titled Lost Track, along with the music video of the song which was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
