Howard Stern is an American radio and television personality, comedian, and author who is best known for his radio show, The Howard Stern Show, which was nationally syndicated on terrestrial radio from WXRK in New York City between 1986 and 2005. It was the highest-rated morning radio program in the New York area from 1994 to 2001 and also became the most fined show, after a total of $2.5 million in fines were issued by the Federal Communications Commission for what it deemed indecent material. Crediting himself as the “King of All Media”, Stern has also hosted and produced various late-night television shows, pay-per-view events, and home videos. Moreover, the multifaceted artist has authored books like Private PartsHoward Stern Comes Again, and Miss America.

As a child, Stern studied in Washington-Rose Elementary School and Roosevelt Junior-Senior High School. Simultaneously, Stern attended a Hebrew school.

At 15, he joined the South Side High School and graduated from there in 1972.

In 1972, Stern wanted to pursue a Communications degree from Boston University, but due to his average high school grades, he had to spend the first 2 years in its College of Basic Studies. During his 2nd year in college, he worked at the campus radio station WTBU, playing records, reading the news, and hosting interviews. So finally in 1974, he gained admission to the university’s School of Public Communications.

Later in 1975, he studied a diploma at the Radio Engineering Institute of Electronics in Fredericksburg, Virginia acquiring a first-class radiotelephone operator license. In May 1976, Stern graduated with a 3.8-grade point average majoring in broadcasting and film and with a minor in English and speech.
