- Joe began creating short movies, sketches, and song parodies when he was about 13 years old. About 5 years later, upon a suggestion from a friend, he joined YouTube and started posting videos – under the moniker ‘SantagatoTV’.
- After dropping out from Queensborough Community College, he worked as a pizza delivery boy and waiter. In parallel, he continued to refine the content of his YouTube channel.
- Before pursuing YouTube full-time, he also worked, briefly, as a producer and editor for Elite Daily (an American online news platform targeted at millennials). In May 2014, he renamed his YouTube channel to ‘Joe Santagato’. Between 2015 and 2017, he also ran a gaming-based YouTube channel that had gained more than 100k subscribers.
- In August 2016, he helped create a board game called Speak Out for Hasbro, Inc. (an American multinational company focused on toys). The game involves players reciting phrases with a dental retractor placed in their mouth while other players try to guess the phrase that is being said.
- He also helped Hasbro, Inc. promote the game on social media. In response, the company later released Speak Out: Joe Santagato Edition – a new version of the game containing phrases written by him that were a bit more explicit.
- In 2021, he and his business partner launched a new trivia party game called Pay The Price. The fundraising campaign for this venture amassed more than USD 120k.
