Kim Thayil is an American musician and guitarist who is best known for being the lead guitarist of the Seattle-based rock band Soundgarden, whose other members included Chris Cornell, Ben Shepherd, Matt Cameron, Hiro Yamamoto, Scott Sundquist, and Jason Everman.   2. Kim Thayil spent his childhood years growing up in the Chicago suburb of Park Forest.
  3. His first band was named Zippy and His Vast Army of Pinheads.
  4. In the year 1984, he co-founded the grunge band Soundgarden along with singer Chris Cornell and bassist Hiro Yamamoto.
  5. With Soundgarden, Kim Thayil released the band’s first studio album, Ultramega OK, on October 31, 1988, via SST Records and the album comprised of songs such as Smokestack LightningFlowerBeyond the WheelAll Your LiesMood for TroubleHead Injury, and Nazi Driver.
