Koffee Facts

  1. Initially, she was musically inspired by her mother’s religious background.
  2. She won a school talent show at Ardenne High School in 2016 but was unaware of the fact that the informal show at which she performed in her school cafeteria had been an audition.
  3. Koffee signed with Columbia Records UK in 2018.
  4. She released her debut extended play Rapture on March 14, 2019, via Columbia Records and its tracklist includes Toast, Rapture, Blazin (ft. Jane Macgizmo), Raggamuffin, and Throne. It peaked at #1 on the US Reggae Albums (Billboard) chart as well as won the award for the “Best Reggae Album” at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards in 2020. With this, she became the youngest person (at the age of 19) and the only woman to be awarded in the “Best Reggae Album” category. After being nominated, Koffee stated, “I’m very honored, I’m very happy and very satisfied. I put a lot of work into my first project and to see that it has been recognized on this level has really fulfilled me so I’m very thankful.”
  5. Her song W (ft. Gunna) was released in 2019 and it peaked at #82 on the UK Singles Chart as well as was certified ‘Silver’ by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The song was also featured on the fictional iFruit Radio station in the video game Grand Theft Auto V.
  6. It was announced on November 13, 2019, that Koffee would serve as an opening act for Harry Styles on select dates of the North American leg of his 2020 Love On Tour and it was announced on December 3 that she would serve as an opening act for the Latin American leg.
  7. On March 25, 2022, she released her debut studio album titled Gifted through Promised Land Recordings and Columbia Records. It consists of songs such as Defend, Shine, Run Away, Gifted, Lonely, x10, Where I’m From, West Indies, and Pull Up. It peaked at #2 on the US Reggae Albums (Billboard) chart.
  8. Koffee’s album Gifted received critical acclaim and NME praised Koffee’s “effortless vocals, smart lyricism and obvious ability to craft new bangers” while Rolling Stone praised the album as “a portrait of a brilliant young artist keenly aware of the miracles that lift her up”. Also, the album was nominated in the “Best Reggae Album” category at the Grammy Awards in 2023.
  9. Some of her musical influences include Oje Ken Ollivierre (popularly known as Protoje), Jamar Rolando McNaughton (popularly known as Chronixx), William Anthony Maragh (also known as Super Cat), and Nathaniel Thompson (known as Giggs).
