- He was expected to lead his family’s fish and chip shop business when he grew up but was encouraged to sing by his music-loving grandfather and a teacher at his school. In his childhood, he had also attended PACE Youth Theatre, a non-profit theatre company based in his hometown of Paisley.
- After leaving school and working as technical support for the Scottish band Speedway, he had spent 3 years learning the music business and performing live. He had then also worked as a studio hand at Glasgow’s Park Lane Studio. It was there that he had started writing and recording songs.
- His life changed all of a sudden when a family member of his had signed him up to attend a live radio show that had been arranged to celebrate Scottish musician David Sneddon’s return to his hometown of Paisley.
- This was in 2003 and after David was late to the show, Paolo had won an impromptu pop quiz. He was then given the chance to perform a couple of songs on the show. The positive reaction of the audience had seen him get signed up by a music career manager for the first time.
