Teya Dora is a Serbian singer and songwriter who is best known for her 2023 single Džanum which attained a lot of popularity on multiple social media platforms including TikTok. The song (whose lyrics convey a somber theme, exploring the pain of unfulfilled aspirations and the pursuit of a brighter future amid despair) attracted particular attention after a 13-year-old male student, in May 2023, had opened fire on the students and staff of an elementary school in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The attack resulted in the death of 10 individuals and occurred just a day before a separate mass shooting in Serbia – both these events ignited mass protests across the country. In the aftermath of these events, Džanum peaked at number 6 on Croatia Songs, a record chart that has been compiled since February 2022 by Billboard (an American music and entertainment magazine whose music charts track the most popular albums and songs in various music genres) as part of its ‘Hits of the World’ chart collection. The track also reached 4th place on the ‘Daily Viral Songs Global’ chart on Spotify (a Swedish audio streaming and media services provider) while its music video has amassed more than 58 million views on YouTube.

- Teya, who began her career as a songwriter and composer, started playing the piano when she was about 5 years old. Her first major project was writing the title track for Yin & Yang (2019), the 2nd studio album by Nikolija, a renowned Serbian singer and rapper.
- This opened the doors of the Serbian music industry for her and she went on to work with several A-listers including her namesake Teodora Džehverović and Nataša Bekvalac.
- Since 2019, Teya has also published numerous singles – including Da na meni je (2019), Oluja (2020), Ulice (2021), U illegali (2022), Vozi me (2022), and Atamala (2023) – establishing a successful solo career.
- Between 2020 and 2023, she wrote several songs for South Wind, a Serbian crime drama TV series that was inspired by an eponymous Serbian crime film from 2018. She also penned some music for the movie’s sequel – South Wind: Acceleration (2021).
