Little Mix members’ health and fitness

Little Mix members’ health and fitness

Little Mix spent a decade doing one of the most physically demanding jobs in pop — 90-minute shows in heels, full choreography, back-to-back arena dates — and all four members have been unusually open about what that cost them. Eating disorders, panic attacks, online abuse, postpartum recovery. None of it got buried in a press release.

With Leigh-Anne Pinnock back in the spotlight on her solo run and fans still searching for member heights and body stats, here’s a rundown of the health and fitness side of the Little Mix camp — the four women themselves, plus the athletes and musicians they’ve built lives with, several of whom have their own well-documented stories.

1. Jade Thirlwall

The shortest member of the group at around 5 ft 3 in (160 cm), Jade was born 26 December 1992 in South Shields. She’s spoken repeatedly about being diagnosed with anorexia as a teenager after being bullied at school, saying she was treated for it before she ever auditioned for The X Factor in 2011.

She’s credited therapy and a rebuilt relationship with food for getting her through the Little Mix years, and she’s been blunt about not wanting to be a diet role model. Her solo debut That’s Showbiz Baby! arrived in 2025 off the back of singles like “Angel of My Dreams,” and her live shows lean heavily on dance — which is basically her cardio.

2. Perrie Edwards

Perrie, born 10 July 1993, is the tallest of the four at about 5 ft 7 in (170 cm). She was born with a hole in her oesophagus and had surgery as a baby, leaving a scar she’s never hidden. She’s also talked openly about severe anxiety and panic attacks that hit hardest around 2018–2019, at one point leaving her unable to get on stage without help.

She had son Axel in August 2021 and went back into rehearsals for solo work within a couple of years. Her approach these days is low-key: gym sessions, long walks, and no interest in pretending she bounced back overnight.

3. Leigh-Anne Pinnock

Born 4 October 1991 in High Wycombe, Leigh-Anne stands around 5 ft 5 in (165 cm) and is arguably the group’s strongest dancer. She had twins in August 2021 with footballer Andre Gray, married him in Jamaica in 2023, and was back in heavy rehearsal mode for Little Mix’s 2022 farewell tour.

Her 2021 BBC documentary Leigh-Anne: Race, Pop & Power dealt with the mental toll of colourism and being the only Black member of the group — she’s described years of feeling invisible on stage. Solo singles “Don’t Say Love” (2023) and the No Hard Feelings EP followed, along with steady TV work that’s kept her trending.

4. Jesy Nelson

Jesy, born 14 June 1991, is about 5 ft 6 in (168 cm). Her 2019 BBC documentary Odd One Out remains one of the most-watched UK films on online abuse — in it she described a 2013 suicide attempt after relentless trolling about her weight and appearance.

She left Little Mix in December 2020 citing mental health, released “Boyz” in 2021, then faced a serious medical scare in 2025 when her twin pregnancy was diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. She underwent laser surgery and delivered her daughters prematurely in May 2025, documenting the hospital stay publicly.

5. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Perrie’s partner and father of her son, born 15 August 1993, listed at 5 ft 9 in (175 cm) and around 154 lbs (70 kg). He’s an England international who came through Arsenal before joining Liverpool in 2017.

His big health story is the knee: he ruptured multiple ligaments against Roma in April 2018 and missed about a year, a rehab grind he’s described as the hardest thing he’s done. He joined Beşiktaş in 2023 and has kept the same lean, explosive midfielder’s build throughout.

6. Andre Gray

Leigh-Anne’s husband, born 26 June 1991, around 5 ft 10 in (178 cm) and about 165 lbs (75 kg). Gray is a non-league-to-Premier-League story: Hinckley United and Luton Town, then Brentford, then Burnley, where he scored 23 goals and won the 2015–16 Championship Golden Boot before an £18.5m move to Watford.

He’s one of the fitter strikers of his generation for a reason — pace was always his weapon, and he’s spoken about the sprint and gym work needed to protect it into his thirties.

7. Jordan Stephens

Jade’s partner, born 8 October 1992, one half of Rizzle Kicks. He co-founded the #IAMWHOLE mental health campaign in 2016 alongside the NHS and YMCA, aimed at young men who won’t talk about their heads.

His 2024 memoir Avoidance, Drugs, Heartbreak and Dogs goes into addiction, therapy and sobriety in detail. He’s also a regular runner and open-water swimmer — the kind of fitness that’s about mood management more than aesthetics.

8. Zayn Malik

Perrie’s ex-fiancé from 2013 to 2015, and a name permanently attached to the Little Mix story. Born 12 January 1993, he’s listed at 5 ft 9 in (175 cm) and around 141 lbs (64 kg).

In his 2016 autobiography Zayn, he revealed he’d struggled with an eating disorder during One Direction, going days without eating while touring. He also cancelled shows that year — including Capital’s Summertime Ball — due to severe anxiety, one of the first major male pop stars to say so plainly.

Four women, a decade of arena shows, and not one of them pretending it was easy. What stands out about the Little Mix orbit isn’t body stats or gym routines — it’s how much of the hard stuff got said out loud, usually while everyone involved was still in the middle of it.
