- His scene-stealing performance as Howard Beale in Network (1976) was ranked at the 52nd spot in the 2004 list of ‘100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time’ by Premiere Magazine.
- The day before his death, Finch appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and, eerily enough, made a joke about dying from heart attack.
- He briefly worked as a reporter for the Sydney Sun newspaper before making it big in Hollywood.
- Finch is the first actor (and the only as of 2023) to win the Academy Award for ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’ posthumously, which he won for his performance in Network (1976).
