Sunil Chhetri is an Indian professional soccer player who has represented, as a striker/winger, teams such as Mohun Bagan Athletic Club (2002–2005, 2011–2012), JCT FC (2005–2008), SC East Bengal (2008–2009), Dempo Sports Club (2009–2010), Chirag United (2011), Churchill Brothers FC Goa (2013), Bengaluru FC (2013–2015, 2016-Present), and Mumbai City FC (2015–2016) in India; Sporting Kansas City (2010) in the United States; and Sporting Clube de Portugal B (2012–2013) in Portugal. With Dempo, he had won the I-League in the 2009–10 season and with Churchill Brothers in the 2012–13 season. With Bengaluru FC, he has won the Indian Super League (2018-19), the I-League (2013–14, 2015–16), the Indian Federation Cup (2014–15, 2016–17), and the Super Cup (2018). He had also led the team to a fairytale runner-up finish in the 2016 AFC Cup (Asia’s continental club soccer competition). Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential soccer players in South Asia, he has led India to title triumphs at the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Challenge Cup (2008), the SAFF (South Asian Football Federation Championship) Championship (2011, 2015), the Nehru Cup (2007, 2009, 2012), and the Intercontinental Cup (2017, 2018).
