- He was discovered to be deaf by his hearing parents when he was around 9 months old.
- With his portrayal of Frank Rossi in CODA (2021), Troy became the 2nd deaf actor in history to ever win an Academy Award. His CODA co-star Marlee Matlin was the 1st deaf artist to win ‘Best Actress’ for Children of a Lesser God in 1987.
