V. V. Vinayak is an Indian director and screenwriter who is predominantly known for churning out various box office hits in the Tamil film industry. First Film (As Director)

V. V. Vinayak made his directorial Telugu theatrical film titled Aadi in 2002. Actors NTR Jr. and Keerthi Chawla were cast in the lead role. The movie was also released in Tamil as Jai (2004) and in Bengali as Surya (2004). It was also dubbed in Hindi and released in 2014 under the title Mazduron Kaa Daata.

  1. V. V. Vinayak was raised in Chagulla, West Godavari in a well-to-do family.
  2. His father started a theater in Chagulla, Veera Venkata Vinayaka Talkies. It was named after Vinayak. Later, his father bought 6 more theaters at the time.
  3. Vinayak had discovered his passion for film at a very early age. However, his father did not like the idea of his son joining the industry. However, after a lot of convincing, Vinayak’s father finally took him to meet director E. V. V. Satyanarayana during the shoot of his film Abbayi Garu (1993). It was from there onwards that he took a liking to film making.
  4. Determined to become a director, Vinayak booked himself on a train to Chennai, where he started working with director Sagar on his unreleased film Sagara Sanchalanam.
  5. During his initial years, Vinayak had worked with many well-known directors like Kranthi Kumar and S. V. Krishna Reddy.
  6. He joined producer Bellamkonda Suresh as co-director for an aborted film titled Varma Garu Bewarse Gaadu. However, he was paid INR. 10,000 and also earned the respect of Suresh, who promised to make him a director.
  7. His debut film Aadi, which was released in 2002, came to life after he had met with film producer Nallamalupu Bujji and narrated the entire story to him. Bujji who liked Vinayak’s story, took Vinayak along with him to Switzerland to complete songs shots for his upcoming film Cheppalani Vundi. It was there that, Vinayak was introduced to actor NTR Jr., who also happened to be there, shooting for songs. NTR Jr., gave Vinayak 20 minutes to narrate the entire story. However, NTR Jr. was so intrigued that he sat there listening to him for 1 and a half hours.
  8. His film Aadi was originally going to be titled “Sree.” It was made within 54 days after NTR JR., approved to work with him. The script of the film was prepared it 2 days by Vinayak and almost 60 scenes were done within the first 48 hours. Also, the film was produced by Bellamkonda Suresh who kept his word on making him a director.
  9. In the past, Vinayak was offered a chance to take a stand in politics. However, he denied the offer, realizing that he did not have a stronghold. He also stated, “Even my mother advised me not to step into politics reminding how my father lost money because of it and failed to look after his children properly.”
  10. Vinayak’s newly constructed home in Vattinagulapally was demolished by authorities after he had violated the “Government Order Number – 111” rules of building a home. According to sources, the actor and repeatedly ignored notices that were being sent to him by officials. It is also said that he was permitted to build a 2 story home but went on to build a place with 6 floors.
  11. In May 2010, Vinayak lost his father at the age of 70, who had been suffering from cardiovascular illness for a long time.
  12. V. V. Vinayak’s mother passed away in December 2014. Sadly, she had been diagnosed with breathing problems.
  13. Distinguished actor Chiranjeevi and V. V. Vinayak are very close friends and consider one another to be brothers.
  14. He credits director Ram Gopal Varma and Raghavendra Rao as his biggest influences.
  15. Vinayak had once served as the president of actor Chiranjeevi’s fans association club.
  16. Director S. S. Rajamouli is one of his closest friends.
  17. The toughest film he ever shot was Badrinath (2011), which featured actor Allu Arjun and Tamannaah in the lead roles.
