- He was cast as Inspector Neelkant Tiwari in the 2003 crime drama film, Gangaajal.
- In 2010, he started hosting the famous real-life-based crime show, Crime Patrol. This project gained him fame amongst the audience but he decided to quit the show in 2018 in order to focus on his acting career.
- Anup Soni portrayed the character of Shaista Khan, a general and the subahdar of Mughal Bengal who was the maternal uncle to the emperor Aurangzeb, in the Marathi language historical drama film, Fatteshikast, in 2019.
- In 2021, he appeared as Kailash Kumar in the Amazon Prime Video political thriller series, Tandav, which revolves around the dark corners of Indian politics.
