  1. He developed an interest in acting while he was studying at the University of North Carolina. He had taken a performance class and it got him very much interested in acting.
  2. Initially, he wasn’t very serious about pursuing acting as a career and was instead focused on becoming a teacher. However, on his first day in school in Masters degree which he was undertaking to become a teacher, he realized how much he wanted to become an actor and decided to completely focus on it.
  3. Before he found fame as an actor, he did a number of odd jobs including waiting tables at Ernie’s and Mad Hatter on Upper East Side, New York City.
  4. While growing up, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
  5. Brad Pitt was the first choice for the role of Russell in Almost Famous. However, after he decided to turn it down for the iconic Fight Club, Billy was given an opportunity to play the role.
  6. He was offered the role of Bruce Banner in the 2003 superhero movie, Hulk, but he decided to turn it down.
  7. He has previously served as a historical interpreter at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo, North Carolina.
  8. He had auditioned for the lead role in Batman Begins and was even considered for the role but eventually, Christian Bale was cast in the role.
