- Parvathy Jayaram (1992-Present) – On September 7, 1992, he got married to actor, costume designer, and classical dancer Parvathy Jayaram (b. Ashwathy Kurup). She quit acting after their marriage and said, “One spouse has to sacrifice their career, otherwise, it will be difficult to bring up the children properly. If there is a good salary earned by the husband, why should the wife work?” The duo has been blessed with 2 children – a son named Kalidas Jayaram (b. December 16, 1993) and a daughter named Malavika (b. 1996). Their son has branched out as an actor and won the National Film Award for “Best Child Artist” for his work in the film Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum (2003), in which he acted along with his father Jayaram.

- He started serving as a medical representative after college.
- He co-starred as Adv. Mohanachandran Pothuval (Appu) in the Malayalam-language romantic drama film Thooval Kottaram in 1996. For this role, Jayaram Subramaniam won the Special Jury Award at the 1996 Kerala State Film Awards and the Filmfare Award for “Best Actor”.
- For his contributions to the Indian film industry, Jayaram Subramaniam was honored with the Padma Shri (the fourth-highest civilian award of the Republic of India) by the Government of India in 2011.
- Along with Anushka Shetty, Unni Mukundan, Asha Sarath, and Murali Sharma, Subramaniam co-starred as Home Minister Eshwar Prasad (the main antagonist) in the thriller film Bhaagamathie in 2018.
