Joe Budden is an American broadcaster, actor, media personality, executive producer, songwriter, and former rapper. He is best known for his eponymous debut studio album, which debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold just under 100k copies in its 1st week in June 2003. The 1st single from the album, Pump It Up, became his most commercially successful single and was even nominated for a Grammy Award for “Best Male Rap Solo Performance” in 2004. For his 2nd album, Joe wanted to steer away from the commercial direction of the 1st, which was met with the disagreement of Def Jam Records, who released Joe Budden in 2003. For that reason, his 2nd studio album under Def Jam titled The Growth remained unreleased and he signed a deal with Amalgam Digital and released studio albums Mood Muzik 3: The Album (2008) and Halfway House (2008).

In 2009, he released 2 more rap/hip-hop studio albums, Padded Room and Escape Route, and also focused on the release of the collaborative album, Slaughterhouse (2009). The album was titled the same as the group and the 1st track he recorded was with Crooked I, Nino Bless, Royce da 5’9″, Joell Ortiz, but Nino left before they officially formed it in 2008. In 2012, he released a 2nd collaborative studio album with Slaughterhouse, titled Welcome To: Our House and then his 6th solo studio album, No Love Lost (2013). It featured a single titled She Don’t Put It Down with Lil Wayne and Tank that debuted at #96 on Billboard Hot 100 and was his 1st single to chart after 10 years. After he released his 9th studio album, Rage & The Machine (2016), he slowly stopped rapping and retired in 2018 to focus on his podcast, The Joe Budden Podcast on Spotify starting in August 2018.

After a year, on December 15, 2017, they welcomed their 1st child, a son named Lexington and after a year more passed, on December 19, 2018, the pair got engaged. Unfortunately, around April 2019, the pair broke off the engagement. When asked on Twitter, Santana said that people could be broken up without saying a word and basically confirmed the rumors.

In Mаy 2019, they were accidentally seen in a random YouTubers’ vlogs walking next to each other in the background. After Joe spotted the camera, he tried to ‘powerwalk’ in front of Jazzma but it was already too late.
  13. Shad̩e Monique (2019) РIn 2019, Joe went on a vacation to an island named Turks & Caicos. Even though they were seen at a pool party together already, Shad̩e and Joe sunbathing on a vacation getaway got the people talking.
  14. Joe also has a son named Trey who was born in 2001 with an older woman whom he never disclosed the identity of. He only said that he was in rehab for drug abuse and when he came out, he met the woman in question. She got pregnant and before she gave birth, they had already broken up. This truly affected his relationship with Trey, and in 2015, he admitted it was almost non-existent.

Joe Budden Facts

  1. His songs mostly reflect his struggles of growing without a father and of his fight against drugs such as ‘angel dust’ and MDMA or ‘Molly’ that he abused in the past.
  2. He went to drug rehab in July 1997 so that he could attend his senior prom but he didn’t earn his diploma in the end.
  3. In 2003, he borrowed his voice to a character in the video game Def Jam Vendetta and in 2004, reprised his role for the game Def Jam: Fight for NY.
  4. Joe had his rap career start after he partnered with his friend, Dub-B, a local music producer. They began creating demos which were noticed by the label head of the Desert Storm Records label. Joe then worked with the rapper Fabolous and his freestyle over instrumentals attracted the attention of Def Jam Recordings, who signed him in 2003.
  5. Joe had released 6 mixtapes between 2003 and 2012. Those were Mood Muzik 1: The Worst of Joe Budden (2003), Mood Muzik 2: Can It Get Any Worse? (2005), Mood Muzik 3: For Better or for Worse (2007), Mood Muzik 3.5 (2007), Mood Muzik 4: A Turn 4 the Worst (2010), and A Loose Quarter (2012).
  6. In 2012, Joe formed a group named SLV (Summer Leather Vest) with Emanny and the two were the group’s only vocalists.
  7. Joe also spent a night in jail on March 30, 2012, for a $75 parking ticket. Unfortunately, it was exactly the night he was supposed to rap at a concert for Slaughterhouse in his hometown, so he missed it.
  8. As part of the hip hop supergroup Slaughterhouse, Joe released a 2nd studio album, Welcome to: Our House in August 2012, under Shady Records founded by Eminem. The album not only debuted at #2 on Billboard 200 chart and #1 on Billboard Top Rap Albums but also featured many well-known rappers and singers. 11. In mid-August 2019, Nicki Minaj started a podcast-only “beef” when she called him out on her Apple Music’s Queen Radio.
