Kailani Craine Facts

  1. She had started figure skating from the age of 8. It had happened accidentally when her parents had taken her to an ice rink on a hot summer’s day and she loved the experience of skating there. She soon began finding out more about the sport and never looked back once she realized that the glittery purple dress that she had worn at a birthday party could become her uniform forever if she could excel in the sport.
  2. Kailani was further inspired to pursue the sport after witnessing the opening ceremony and the figure skating event at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. She had made representing Australia at the Olympics the ultimate aim of her life and her dream was fulfilled when she qualified for and participated in the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
  3. In both 2014 and 2015, she had accomplished the rare feat of winning the Australian Figure Skating Championships and the Australian Junior Figure Skating Championships in the same year.
  4. She had won the coveted Sport Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF) Scholarship in 2017, an elite mentoring program for Under-21 athletes.
