Todd Rundgren Facts

  1. Todd grew up in Upper Darby in Pennsylvania, which is also the hometown of comedian Tina Fey. In fact, the two studied algebra from the same teacher, although 20 years apart.
  2. His 1972 album Something/Anything? is “rightly regarded as one of the landmark releases of the early 70s” by the music writer and founder of the Encyclopedia of Popular Music, Colin Larkin.
  3. Mark David Chapman, who shocked the world by killing John Lennon on December 8, 1980, was reportedly a huge fan of Rundgren. At the time of the killing, Chapman wore a promotional t-shirt from Rundgren’s album Hermit of Mink Hollow (1978) and had kept a copy of his other album Runt: The Ballad of Todd Rundgren (1971) in his Manhattan hotel room.
  4. If he weren’t a musician, he would have ended up working as a computer programmer owing to his keen interest in the subject.
