well if you know it, i think he died bc he was shot in the back, so he came back to the button hall and got betrayed by a friend or a lover, who shot him in the back.theres no proof for how he died but in the series you can see he hurted his back, so….
Like his joints cracking? Pretty sure that’s just old age – it could be to do with his death, but we’ve seen all angles of him and there’s no physical gun wound. There’s a theory Haver’s was actually a german spy and killed the Captain but I doubt it since he still seems to harbour feelings for him. We’ll find out in S5 anyway, they’ve said the broken mirror in the opening credits and the fact his medals are upside down are big clues.
