Joe Alwyn Facts

  1. Alwyn might have had to wait a bit longer if Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk casting director Avy Kaufman and director Ang Lee hadn’t struck with the initial decision to cast the well-known actor in the main role.
  2. Avy Kaufman put Joe on a flight to New York City on the same day he had seen his audition tape. As soon as he saw the tape, he was completely sure that they had found Billy.
  3. He brought to life the character of Robert Dudley, Elizabeth’s counselor and lover, in the 2018 historical drama film, Mary Queen of Scots. His co-stars in the project included Saoirse Ronan, Margot Robbie, Jack Lowden, David Tennant, and Guy Pearce.
  4. Alongside Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr., and Janelle Monáe, he co-starred as Gideon Brodess, Harriet’s former owner, in the 2019 American biographical film titled Harriet.
  5. He made a cameo appearance in Miss Americana, a 2020 American documentary film that follows American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and her life over the course of several years of her career.
  6. Ang Lee was almost off from casting him as he felt Joe was too good-looking for the role but Joe’s earnestness swayed him.
  7. Joe has contributed as a songwriter and has been credited as ‘William Bowery’ for Taylor Swift’s album Folklore released in 2020.
