- She was raised in Changnyeong County in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea.
- Growing up, Oh Yeon-seo wanted to become an archeologist.
- She was in 2nd year of middle school when she followed a group of friends to an audition for SM Entertainment held in Daegu. However, she was rejected.
- After she was rejected at the audition for SM Entertainment, Oh Yeon-seo received a call from another company that stated that she had qualified. Subsequently, she moved to Seoul and debuted 4 months later at the age of 15.
- After consulting a shaman with her mother, she changed her name from Haet-nim to Yeon-seo.
