  1. In 1976, he shifted to Laguna Beach, California, along with his family.
  2. During high school, Taylor Hawkins was friends with Jon Davison (the lead vocalist of progressive rock band Yes).
  3. He was best friends with Dave Grohl, who described Hawkins as “my brother from another mother, my best friend, a man for whom I would take a bullet” in his 2021 memoir, The Storyteller.
  4. In August 2001, he overdosed on heroin and was in a coma for 2 weeks. Dave Grohl was beside his hospital bed in London for 2 weeks until he woke up.
  5. Talking about the 2001 incident to Beats 1 host Matt Wilkinson in 2018, Taylor Hawkins said: “I was partying a lot. I wasn’t a junkie per se, but I was partying. There was a year where the partying just got a little too heavy. Thank God on some level this guy gave me the wrong line with the wrong thing one night and I woke up going, ‘What the f*ck happened?’ That was a real changing point for me.”
  6. In 2005, he was voted “Best Rock Drummer” by the British drumming magazine Rhythm.
