Timbaland was heavy and weighed over 300 pounds, and was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2004. His personal trainer, Garcia chalked out a workout routine that included cardio and weight training preferably 2 times per day for 5 days a week. His initial workout sessions were of lower intensity for a longer duration on the treadmill.
As he began losing weight, his running speed increased. He could run at 9 miles per hour for 60 minutes. While on weight training, Timbaland followed an alternate workout pattern for 5 days transiting between heavy and light training. Heavy training day included heavy movements with heavier equipment with 4 repetitions, while, light training days meant 15 repetitions and working on cable and isolation exercises.
As for his diet, he was put on 5 portion meals to be taken within 3 hours gap per day. His diet included a balance of 50% protein, 30% carbohydrates, and 20% fats. His main source of carbs was oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potatoes, green vegetables, and fresh fruit. Healthy fats were obtained from omega-3 rich foods like almonds and salmon. At the end of 6 weeks, he lost 130 pounds and gained a toned body.
- Timbaland’s friendship with rapper Melvin (Magoo) Barcliff began way back from high school.
