- She is distantly related to the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore through both her parents.
- Tagore marked her film debut with the legendary director Satyajit Ray’s Bengali drama The World of Apu (1959) (also titled Apur Sansar) at the young age of 14. She went on to collaborate with him on a string of successful films like Devi (1960), Nayak (1966), Aranyer Din Ratri (1970), and Seemabaddha (1971).
