  1. She is distantly related to the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore through both her parents.
  2. Tagore marked her film debut with the legendary director Satyajit Ray’s Bengali drama The World of Apu (1959) (also titled Apur Sansar) at the young age of 14. She went on to collaborate with him on a string of successful films like Devi (1960), Nayak (1966), Aranyer Din Ratri (1970), and Seemabaddha (1971).
  3. She appeared with her son in his debut film Aashik Awara (1993) and Eklavya: The Royal Guard (2007).
  4. In 2013, Tagore was honored with the country’s third highest civilian honor, the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India for her inimitable contributions to the Indian culture through performing arts.
  5. She starred with Shammi Kapoor in the romantic thriller An Evening in Paris (1967). The film made headlines for featuring her in a bikini, making her the first actress to do so on Indian celluloid.
