  1. In 2007, he started his career as a cinematographer in the comedy-drama film Khanna & Iyer.
  2. Laxman Utekar served as a cinematographer in the 2012 Hinglish-language comedy-drama film English Vinglish, starring Sridevi, Adil Hussain, Mehdi Nebbou, and Priya Anand. The film was shortlisted as India’s official entry for the Academy Awards in the “Best Foreign Language Film” category.
  3. In 2014, he made his directorial debut with the Marathi language film Tapaal. It stars Nandu Madhav, Rohit Utekar, Veena Jamkar, Urmilla Kothare, and Milind Gunaji.
  4. Laxman Utekar worked as the director of photography for the 2016 Hindi-language coming-of-age drama film Dear Zindagi, starring Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead roles.
  5. He directed the 2021 Hindi-language comedy-drama film Mimi, a remake of the 2011 Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy!. The film’s lead cast included Kriti Sanon, Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak, and others. Renuka Vyahare of The Times of India noted about the film that “it picks a relevant topic and turns it into an engaging, empowering and compassionate tale on humanity and motherhood”.
  6. Laxman Utekar directed and co-wrote the 2023 Hindi-language romantic comedy film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, starring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan.
