  1. Although she was born in Nigeria, her family relocated to London when she was 11 years old.
  2. In November 2018, Tiwa bagged the ‘Best African Act’ award at the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards, making her the first woman to win in that category.
  3. She sings in English and Yoruba languages.
  4. At 16, Tiwa did backup vocals for the English singer George Michael. Additionally, she has also lent her vocals to the likes of Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Chaka Khan, Andrea Bocelli, Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Ms. Dynamite, etc.
  5. Between 2013 and 2014, she appeared as Sade Banjo in season 3 of the television drama series, Shuga.
  6. In 2006, Tiwa participated in season 3 of the reality competition series The X Factor. She reached the final 24 stage and was the 12th person to be eliminated from the show, which was ultimately won by Leona Lewis.
