1. He grew up believing that his father was John Frederick Barrett (Desmond Child’s mother’s husband at the time of his birth) and only came to know that his biological father was a Hungarian man named Joseph Marfy when Child was 18 years old.
2. In January 1991, he lost his younger brother to AIDS-related complications. Desmond Child recorded the song A Ray of Hope written by Don Paul Yowell as a tribute to his late brother.
3. His fellow Desmond Child & Rouge members included Myriam Valle, Maria Vidal, and Diana Grasselli.
4. Child’s debut solo album Discipline was released on June 18, 1991, via Elektra Records.
5. In 2008, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
