- In 1990, he made his first film appearance by making a cameo as a constable in the Tamil-language action drama film Vaazhkai Chakkaram.
- As a lead actor, Sundar C. made his acting debut as Subramaniam alias Right in the 2006 Tamil-language action crime film Thalai Nagaram, a remake of the 1991 Malayalam film Abhimanyu. He co-starred in the film alongside Jyothirmayi, Prakash Raj, and Vadivelu.
- He served as the director for the 1996 Tamil-language comedy film Ullathai Allitha and this earned him a nomination for a Filmfare Award for “Best Director – Tamil”.
