  1. He spent his childhood years growing up in Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir.
  2. He is the son of the retired Chief Justice of Jammu High Court.
  3. In 2003, he was seen as Dr. Sanjay in the Hindi-language medical drama film Armaan.
  4. Along with Sandhya Mridul, Koel Purie, and Barry John, Aamir Bashir co-starred as Krish Kumar in the romantic drama film The Great Indian Butterfly in 2007.
  5. He played Inspector Jai Pratap Singh in the Hindi-language thriller film A Wednesday! in 2008. The film was a critical and commercial success and won many accolades.
  6. Aamir Bashir made his directorial debut with the 2010 Kashmiri-language film Harud. It premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival and won the National Award for “Best Urdu Feature Film” at the 60th National Film Awards.
  7. He was initially cast to play the role of Shahrukh Khan‘s younger brother in the 2010 drama film My Name is Khan. However, he was later replaced by Jimmy Sheirgill because Aamir was denied a visa to the United States in December 2008, where the film was being shot.

Aamir Bashir brought to life the character of Vivek Vashisht in the 2010 satirical black comedy film Peepli Live, starring Omkar Das Manikpuri, Raghubir Yadav, Shalini Vatsa, Malaika Shenoy, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Naseeruddin Shah. A critically-acclaimed film that explores the topic of farmer suicides, Peepli Live became India’s official entry for the 83rd Academy Awards in the “Best Foreign Film” category.
  9. He appeared as Liyaqat Lone in the 2014 Hindi-language crime thriller film Haider, starring Shahid Kapoor, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, Shraddha Kapoor, and Irrfan Khan.   10. From 2018 to 2019, Aamir Bashir played the recurring role of Inspector Majid Ali Khan in the neo-noir crime thriller streaming television series Sacred Games.
  11. He was seen as Amit Yadav in the 2020 Hindi-language film Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Bhumi Pednekar.
  12. He was cast as Nawab of Baitar in the BBC television drama miniseries A Suitable Boy in 2020. Adapted from Vikram Seth’s 1993 novel of the same name, it stars Tabu, Ishaan Khatter, Tanya Maniktala, Rasika Dugal, and Ahmad Harhash.
  13. In 2023, Aamir Bashir started appearing as Schoolmaster Samuel “Sam” Singh in the Hindi-language thriller mystery drama streaming television series School of Lies. His co-stars for the project included Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, Nimrat Kaur, Shakti Anand, and Vir Pachisia.
