- Rukhsar Rehman (2004-2023) – He began dating the actress and model Rukhsar Rehman, of PK (2014), The Gone Game (2020-2022), and Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) fame, in 2004. The couple officially became husband and wife on March 23, 2010. However, their 13-year marriage ended in divorce in 2023.
- Shoksanam (2022-Present) – In December 2022, Kabir got married to a 20-year-old Uzbekistan woman named Shoksanam. The couple was blessed with a daughter named Aarya Fiza Kabir on November 29, 2023. However, Shoksanam took their baby and ran away with her family on December 20, 2023, owing to a disagreement over the newborn’s nationality. The next day, Kabir filed a complaint at the Versova police station and his daughter’s location (along with her mother and grandmother) was traced to Amritsar. He was finally reunited with his daughter on December 31, 2023.

- He began his career by working as an assistant director to Aziz Mirza on Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000) and Santosh Sivan on Asoka (2001) at the young age of 18 years.
- Kabir made his directorial debut with the documentary short film The Awakening (2006) with Ajay Devgan. The film is based on the Mumbai floods that took place on July 26, 2005, and was well-received by audiences.
- In Bollywood, he enjoys the works of directors Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aziz Mirza, Sriram Raghavan, Zoya Akhtar, Meghna Gulzar, and Santosh Sivan. In Hollywood, he loves the works of Alfonso Cuarón and Christopher Nolan.
