- Rahman made his acting debut by playing the character of Ravi Puthooran in the 1983 Malayalam drama film Koodevide, loosely based on a Tamil novel by Vasanthi. This role won him the State Award for “Best Supporting Actor”.
- He co-starred as Unni or Unnikrishnan in the 1984 Malayalam-language film Ithiri Poove Chuvannapoove.
- Alongside Prakash Vijayaraghavan and Ashwin Kumar, Rahman co-starred as Deepak (retired Inspector of Police) in the 2016 neo-noir crime thriller film Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (also known as D-16).
