Zach Braff is an American actor, director, screenwriter, and producer who is best known for playing John ‘J.D.’ Dorian in the medical comedy-drama TV series Scrubs (2001–2010) for which he was nominated at the Satellite Awards (2005), the Primetime Emmy Awards (2005), and the Golden Globe Awards (2005, 2006, 2007) in the category of ‘Best Actor’. He is also well recognized for starring in films such as The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy (2000), Garden State (2004), The Last Kiss (2006), and The Ex (2006). He had written, directed (debut), and compiled the soundtrack album for Garden State (2004) which gained a cult following and had also earned him a Grammy Award in 2005 for ‘Best Soundtrack Album’.

  2. In March 2005, fellow actor Donald Faison had pranked him by having an actor spray paint his new car with washable paint. Unaware of the prank, Zach pursued that teen actor and tried to punch him and accidentally hit another actor. This was captured and broadcast on the MTV hidden-camera practical joke reality TV series Punk’d.
  3. In November 2008, he had earned his pilot’s license by successfully flying the piston-engine, four-seat composite monoplane Cirrus SR20.
  4. In 2009, he had opened a restaurant known as Mermaid Oyster Bar in New York City with his high school friend and chef Laurence Edelman.

  6. In February 2022, Zach’s best friend, manager Chris Huvane, passed away due to an apparent suicide.
