- In January 2014, he gave $50,000 to State College of Florida student Zaire Holmes (also a single mother) in scholarship to fund her education to pursue medical studies. The scholarship was originally termed as ‘twerking scholarship’ but he made it clear that applicants don’t have to actually twerk.
- In 1991, he co-founded Southern hip hop group, Three 6 Mafia. Two of the group’s albums When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 and Most Known Unknown were certified as platinum.
- In 2006, as the member of the Three 6 Mafia, he won an Oscar award for the best original song for It’s Hard out Here for a Pimp soundtrack, which was created for the crime drama movie, Hustle & Flow.
